Change your nose, no surgery needed. Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses dermal fillers to shape and enhance the nose without incisions, downtime, or scarring. After a few injections, you’ll enjoy an improved nasal appearance for up to six months.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is highly effective, but it doesn’t replace a surgical nose job. Learn what this procedure can and cannot fix. Those nasal issues not addressed with non-surgical rhinoplasty can usually be corrected with a surgical procedure like rhinoplasty.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty- What Can it Do?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses dermal fillers to add volume and reshape the nose. Much like a filler for wrinkle treatment, fillers are injected into precise locations in the nose and surrounding tissue. Dermal fillers can only add volume, not remove it, so this procedure is limited in what it can achieve. While a surgical rhinoplasty offers lifelong results, a non-surgical one is temporary, requiring touch-up treatments every few months to maintain.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty was designed to correct cosmetic concerns. It is a fantastic solution for filling in a depression or divot, but it isn’t effective for treating breathing or functional issues.
Some of the nasal issues we treat with non-surgical rhinoplasty include:
- Enhance shape or size
- Depressions and indentations
- Crookedness
- Downturned or upturned nasal tip
Non-surgical rhinoplasty always adds volume, but it can still reduce the appearance of a large nose. By using fillers to contour irregularities, we can help the nose to have smoother contour and thus draw less attention to its size.
When Surgery Is Best: Corrections that Require Rhinoplasty
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a good fit for many patients, especially those that need to avoid or delay surgery. However, there are times when a non-surgical treatment won’t produce the desired results. These patients may need a traditional rhinoplasty using an open or closed technique.
- Breathing obstructions or abnormalities including enlarged turbinates, deviated septum, etc.
- Remove humps and bumps from the nasal bridge
- Resize or reshape the nostrils
- Repair damage or trauma from past nasal injuries
Some patients start off with non-surgical rhinoplasty, but after a treatment or two, decide to pursue surgical treatment. They love their results and want to keep them, without the need for regular touch-ups.
What to Expect from Your Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Treatment
For many of our patients, non-surgical rhinoplasty is their first experience with fillers. Get ready to be amazed at these cosmetic medicine powerhouses. Start with your nose, and maybe soon you’ll be using fillers in other areas too (brows, cheeks, chin, hands).
Your treatment will start with an examination. Your doctor will look at your nose and the surrounding areas, choosing the best fillers to use and pinpointing the areas that need treatment.
Once your doctor has a plan, they will carefully inject filler into the pre-chosen areas. You’ll feel a quick prick with each injection, but since many of the fillers contain lidocaine, the sensation is temporary and fades almost immediately.
What about downtime? None, nada, zilch. Most patients return to their daily activities immediately. The total treatment time is about 30 minutes for an average treatment.
We’ve got one simple tip for patients preparing for a non-surgical nose job. This procedure is highly specialized. Choose a doctor with experience, both with using fillers and applying them to the nose. MAE Plastic Surgery is an excellent choice for patients in the Chicago and Northbrook areas.
