Rhinoplasty Myth #1- Rhinoplasty Is Just a Cosmetic Procedure
Rhinoplasty isn’t just a cosmetic procedure. Although many choose it to enhance the shape and size of their nose, rhinoplasty has many functional benefits. Dr. Epstein always performs functional rhinoplasty, even on cosmetic patients. As he makes aesthetic changes to the nose, he also strives to maximize function. Breathe easier with rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty can be used to treat nasal obstructions, a deviated septum, and other breathing difficulties.
Rhinoplasty Myth #2- It Is Easy to Spot Someone with a Nose Job
If you can tell someone has had rhinoplasty, odds are it wasn’t a good one. Our goal with each and every rhinoplasty is natural-looking results. We perform both open and closed rhinoplasties, depending on your needs and situation. Your end result should be a nose that looks like you were born with it (even though you weren’t).
Rhinoplasty Myth #3- Rhinoplasty Is One-Size-Fits-All
What does the perfect nose look like? Truth be told, there’s no one perfect nose. Your nose should balance your other facial features, creating a harmonious facial appearance. Some patients need a big, bold nose while others benefit from something smaller and more subtle. During your consultation we’ll explain your options and work with you to create an ideal yet realistic nose that best fits your face.
Rhinoplasty Myth #4- Rhinoplasty Is an Easy Procedure, Any Surgeon Can Do It
Rhinoplasty is a highly complex procedure, one that requires advanced knowledge and skill. If you want the best rhinoplasty results, you need a surgeon with an in-depth understanding of rhinoplasty and extensive experience using techniques like hump removal, tip reshaping, cartilage grafting, etc. Look for an experienced plastic surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty. If you’re in the Chicago area, Dr. Epstein is an excellent choice.
Rhinoplasty Myth #5- You Can’t See Your Rhinoplasty Results Before Surgery
Think you have to wait until after rhinoplasty surgery to see your new look? Not with our advanced imaging options. During your consultation, Dr. Epstein will take several pictures of your nose from specific angles. He’ll will also take a image with a 3-D camera that gets loaded into a computer and uses specialized software so that he can digitally reshape the nose. You’ll be able to see what may be possible with your surgical correction before the actual operation. Although results can vary, many patients find their computer imaging results to be very close to their actual rhinoplasty results after surgery.
