Lipo Dissolve

Dr. Michael Epstein offers the Lipo Dissolve treatment for those patients seeking less invasive body contouring procedures. In the paragraphs below, he explains the procedure, how Lipo Dissolve is performed and expected recovery.

What is LipoDissolve?

Lipo Dissolve is a non-surgical treatment designed to eliminate localized fat deposits on the body. It can be used as an alternative to traditional liposuction or in conjunction with liposuction. The technique uses a series of micro-injections of a naturally occurring enzyme solution called phosphatidylcholine deoxycholate or PCDC, which is found in every cell of the body. Lipo Dissolve can treat many different areas of the body including the inner and outer thigh, the upper and lower abdomen, the arms, the flanks, saddlebags and the neck area.

How is Lipo Dissolve performed?

Lipo Dissolve is a non-surgical outpatient procedure performed in our facility, Northbrook Plastic Surgery. Dr. Epstein or one of his aesthetic nurse specialists will begin by marking the various areas of your body that you are interested in treating. Once the areas are marked, a series of micro-injections will be injected into the site. The fat cells absorb the solution, become slightly inflamed, and then harden. The hardened cells break down within a few weeks and are excreted through the body.

The procedure is very quick and relatively painless. No anesthesia is required and the results are astounding!  Lipo Dissolve usually requires 2-4 treatments depending on the severity of the area to be treated and how well the body responds. Treatments are administered 4-6 weeks apart.  Results can typically be seen after the second treatment and the full effect will accumulate over time with each additional treatment. This procedure takes approximately 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on the areas being treated.

What to expect during the recovery period?

  • Bruising, swelling and discomfort at the injection site, usually resolves in a few days
  • The area treated may itch
  • No downtime following the procedure
