Botox and Dermal Fillers

At Transcend MedSpa, Dr. Epstein offers a variety of anti-aging injectable treatments to help give his patients a natural, more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. While some injectable procedures rely on filler materials to smooth out wrinkles, regain volume, improve the facial structure and create a younger look, others target the muscles that actually cause wrinkles and lines to appear on the face.

When it comes to injectables, there’s often confusion as to the role that each one plays.  The following information should help clarify which injectable treatment might be best for you. BOTOX Cosmetic

BOTOX treats what are known as dynamic wrinkles – wrinkles caused by squinting or frowning, which require muscle contraction. Botox is injected under the skin to relax these muscles, which helps to soften facial lines and wrinkles (specifically, the creases across the forehead, the frown lines between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet around the eyes).  It can also help diminish vertical lines that form above and below the lip.  Botox is one of our most popular injectables and is effective for approximately three to four months.  It has also been found to be quite successful in treating excessive underarm sweating.

Juvederm

Juvederm is a gel filler that instantly diminishes the wrinkles and folds that look like parentheses along the side of the nose and mouth, as well as vertical lines above the upper lip.  It’s also ideal for lip augmentation and restoring volume and fullness to the face. The results are not only instant, but they are extremely smooth and natural looking. Comprised of a substance that is found in all living cells, Juvederm can last for up to one year.

Radiesse

Radiesse is an injectable filler unlike any other treatment on the market today. Not only does it safely fill and correct nasolabial folds (smile lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth), but it also beautifully restores the natural contour of the cheeks and face.  But, what makes this product so unique is that it actually works with the body to stimulate and grow new collagen.  Even more exciting…the results are natural, immediate and long lasting!  Radiesse typically lasts up to a year, which may be longer than any other fillers available today. It has also been used for hand rejuvenation.

Restylane and Perlane

Restylane and Perlane, made by the same company, are both dermal fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin.  The hyaluronic acid found in both products helps smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the lines from the nose to the corners of the moth (often called “puppet lines”). Restylane has also been used to enhance the lip line by adding fullness and volume to the lips. Both products, which are FDA approved, have been found to last at least six months.

Transcend Liquid Facelift

Using a variety of injectables (Botox and dermal fillers such as Cosmoderm, Collagen, Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane or Perlane), the Transcend Facelift creates beautiful natural results that are astounding!  This “liquid facelift” is quite popular among Transcend clients who aren’t quite ready for a surgical facelift.  Results have been shown to last for up to a year.
