Types of Body Treatments

Liposonic Therapy

This innovative approach combines LipoDissolve “fat melting” treatments with the added benefit of ultrasound to improve upon the latest technology in non-surgical fat removal procedures. After injecting the LipoDissolve formula into the unwanted fat deposits, ultrasound is utilized to evenly distribute the fluid throughout the tissue.  This initiates a process during which fat is melted away, and the skin contracts to build a smooth, tighter surface.  LipoSonic Therapy has been shown to be successful in 95% of our patients. It’s ideal for those who have a small, isolated pocket of fat that they wish to have removed non-surgically.

Sonic Therapy

This therapeutic ultrasound procedure provides multiple benefits for healing after surgery, including faster recovery with less bruising, decreased pain and swelling, and better overall surgical results.  It also lowers the risk of post-operative complications and can prevent unwanted scarring by reducing depressions and unevenness in areas that have been treated with liposuction. Sonic Therapy can also decrease capsular contractures with breast augmentation surgery.

Spider Vein Treatment

Sclerotherapy is a proven medical procedure used to eliminate varicose veins and spider veins. Used since the 1930s, sclerotherapy involves an injection of a solution (generally a salt solution) directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to swell and stick together, and the blood to clot. Over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view.

Candidates for Sclerotherapy

Prior to sclerotherapy, you will have an initial consultation with one of our doctors or nurse specialists who will decide if you’re a good candidate for the procedure.

How Sclerotherapy Is Done

In most cases of sclerotherapy, the salt solution is injected through a very fine needle directly into the vein. At this point, you may experience mild discomfort and cramping for one to two minutes, especially when larger veins are injected. The procedure itself takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes.

The number of veins injected in one session varies, depending on the size and location of the veins, as well as the general medical condition of the patient.

Sclerotherapy is performed in Transcend MedSpa and requires that you do not engage in any aerobic activity for a few days after the procedure.

What to Do Before Sclerotherapy

Prior to sclerotherapy, you should avoid certain medications. You should talk to Dr. Epstein about all of the medications that you are taking, including over the counter drugs, herbs, dietary supplements and prescriptions. If you need to take an antibiotic before sclerotherapy, contact your doctor. No lotion should be applied to the legs before the procedure.

Dr. Epstein recommends avoiding aspirin, ibuprofen (such as Advil®, Motrin®, and Nuprin®) or other anti-inflammatory drugs for 48 to 72 hours before sclerotherapy. Tylenol®, however, should not affect this procedure.
